In partnership with Calera, Evans’ team was able to leverage its compelling agent-based model to open up new markets and dramatically expand its offering:
- Core Drayage Offering: The team invested in recruiting efforts, national account programs and geographic expansion to drive ~20%+ organic growth in the segment alongside continued strong retention (98%+).
- Adjacent Market Expansion: Calera partnered with the Evans team to move into adjacent markets which demonstrated the applicability of Evans’ offering across multiple modes. These segments grew by 4x and ended up representing a meaningful percentage of the overall business mix.
- Freight Brokerage Buildout: Utilizing the Company’s agent-based platform, the team built a top 30 brokerage operations from the ground up with systems, platform and scale with which to continue on its rapid growth path.
- Acquisitions: Evans completed 7 highly synergistic acquisitions, each of which were aligned with its culture and growth strategy. The go-forward acquisition model and integration playbook added to the franchise value of the business and accelerated expansion efforts.
Overall Results
Evans’ EBITDA increased by over 3x through our investment period while staying true to the family heritage and approach at core of the 80+ year old operations.
